Budget information for Upton Parish Council
During our Parish Council meeting on 2nd December 2025, we reviewed and approved the budget for the 2026/27 financial year, which totals £189,504 in planned spending. We set the precept at £126,583. Based on current estimates of the Council Tax Base—which roughly corresponds to the number of homes, factoring in exemptions—this means a Band D council taxpayer in Upton Parish will pay £36.97 per year. This amount is up from £35.78 in 2025/26, marking an 3% increase.
We understand that many households face financial pressures, so we are committed to using your contributions wisely. As your Parish Council, our priority remains building a community we can all be proud of by improving local facilities, investing in amenities, hosting community events, and working to address residents’ concerns.
Every decision we’ve made reflects Upton’s best interests, guided in part by feedback from the recent Upton Community Survey about what residents value most.
As Upton grows, so does the need for additional resources. While we aren’t increasing staff (the Parish Council employs just one part-time clerk), we have raised our Place Shaping budget to cover more repairs and maintenance in public spaces. We’ve also increased our Communications budget in response to your requests for better updates. Furthermore, we’ve set aside funds for a project to help reduce parking problems in the parish. Even with these increases, Upton’s precept remains among the lowest in West Northamptonshire, ensuring excellent value for residents.
