Who we are & what we do
Upton Parish Council consists of 11 councillors who serve for a four year term. Our councillors are elected by residents at Parish Council elections once every four years. The next Parish Council elections will take place in May 2029. If a vacancy arises before the end of this term, a new councillor can be co-opted onto the Parish Council. Candidates attend a Parish Council meeting and Councillors vote for their preferred candidate.
All Councillors are unpaid public servants.
They are members of the local community who want to do something positive and aim to make a difference by influencing decisions that affect our parish. Parish Councillors volunteer their time to work free of charge, on your behalf, serving to improve the quality of life and the local environment
Upton Parish Council is supported by one, part-time employee – the Clerk & RFO.
Parish Council Meetings
Parish Council meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month at 19:15 at St Crispin Community Centre.
The Council Meetings are open to the public and there is a Public Participation Session where residents have an opportunity to address Council on any matter relating to the Agenda. Members of the public may raise issues with any Councillor of the Parish Council outside of meetings and request the issue be included on the next Agenda.
How to get involved
The Parish Council’s role is to represent the interests of the whole community, so residents’ views are important.
Residents can get involved in a number of ways
Come along to a Parish Council meeting – it is your right. There is a public participation session at each meeting, where people can bring issues or questions to the Parish Council’s attention.
