The Elgar Centre is a Community Venue with playing fields, rooms and space for hire for private, corporate and community events. It is owned by West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) and leased to VCS Operators.

The future of The Elgar Centre

We have been informed by WNC that they have added The Elgar Centre onto their VCS Available Property list. Any Voluntary, Community, Social enterprise, and Faith Group is entitled to make an application.

We have asked WNC about communication of this course of action and consultation with the community, but we have not had a specific response, other than to say that the application process is open until 31st December 2024 and any VCS group is entitled to apply.

WNC Councillor Nick Sturges Alex took to social media stating;

“For the sake of clarity, The Elgar Centre is not for sale. It is, and will remain as a community facility and will be available to community groups and individuals to hire in the future as now. Anything else that you may hear is not true and should be ignored. If you want any further information on this matter, please reach out to me nick.sturges-alex@westnorthants.gov.uk “

What to do if you are a VCS group interested in leasing The Elgar Centre

If leasing The Elgar Centre is of interest to you, you need to complete the online application form before the 31^st December 2024, which is the application closing date.

WNC will assess your application form based on the criteria set out in their Policy on the Voluntary, Community, Social enterprise, and Faith Group use of property. If successful, you might be asked for further documentation including a business case.
