Upton Parish Council (UPC) in partnership with West Northamptonshire Council (WNC), is beginning essential maintenance work at St Crispin Cemetery Gardens – an important historic site in Upton. Originally part of St Crispin Hospital, the cemetery has long been a place of remembrance for those who lived and passed away there.
The project aims to restore and enhance the space, ensuring it remains a respectful and accessible area for the community. Planned works include raising and securing memorial stones, improving pathways, repairing sections of the iron fence, and installing planters to create a more welcoming environment.
Following a successful community day last year, with UPC, Friends of St Crispin and other volunteers, we are acting on this impetus. This marks the first stage of restoration, and local residents are encouraged to stay engaged as updates are shared. Both councils are committed to preserving the heritage of this site and look forward to the community’s continued support.
