In 2022, Upton Parish Council planted four trees as part of “The Queen’s Green Canopy,” celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee. Over time, the wooden stands holding the commemorative plaques became damaged, and some of the plaques became detached. With permission from The Land Trust, the silver plaques have now been reinstated on the dwarf walls at Upton Square, near each tree planting site. This is intended to serve as a lasting tribute to The Queen’s Green Canopy.
